The big fish eats the fish that eats the little fish...

We have a new number three in the PC market: Acer.

On Monday Acer agreed to buy the US Gateway for $710m, as can be read here. According to Engadget it will also excercise "its right of first refusal (or ROFR) to acquire control of Packard Bell BV by nabbing all of the shares of the PC-maker's parent company".

Acer surpassed Lenova, the chinese PC giant, to become the third biggest manufacturer after HP and Dell. This really is a serious move on Acer's part to become a major player.
